Not really resisting the descent into urban gardening madness

Probably counts as bragging

Four days later and all of this is new today- we finished the last of the previous lot of tomatoes in a couscous salad last night, and this is what my plants have given me today. More tomatoes than I can fit in my pockets, a handful of beans, a zucchini, plenty of basil and a handful of greens. I decided that the combination of green (Sweet Genovese), purple (Opal) and green+purple (Thai) basils was pretty enough to be in the harvest shot today, and the greens get an honourable mention because they include my first harvest of lettuce out of the garden, not including the baby leaves I've been sneaking when I wander past.

So my Friday afternoon snack was a bowl of salad: rocket, lettuce, tomato & basil, all grown by me, plus feta and avocado, not grown by me. It was incredibly pretty, yellow tomatoes on green leaves with purple basil on top (go contrast!). It occurs to me that I never voluntarily ate salad til I started gardening. Now I find it quite exciting. Wierd what this hobby does to you.
