Nod and smile, nod and smile
I am sick, sick as I inevitably get if I've managed to survive a whole winter without illness, sick as if Spring needs vengeance on me. I also had very little sleep last night, which tends to happen when I switch from Job #1 (shifts that finish at 10pm, an hour's travel away from home) to Job #2 (business hours network admin girl).
And yet today has been my most productive day in ages! I've gotten so much stuff done. I want to buy myself a beer to celebrate, but mostly I am filled with joy at looking at my fully-functional little webpages swimming free on the currents of the internets*. I do many, many things for a living (my weekly schedule looks like a piece of interprative chimpanzee art, sprawled over a loose grid design) but the bits where I get to actually make things, and finish them, and look at them and go "Hah! I made you!" make me giddily happy.
*Is it wrong or wierd that I view finished webpage projects as something akin to freshly-spawned little baby octopi, bravely battling the Ocean's predators and unfriendly currents? Because I do.
I mostly attribute today's stunning productivity and lack of falling asleep at my desk to taking a break mid-afternoon to sit in the sunshine and talk to my boifriend. Thankyou sun and boifriend!
